Measuring Tips to Assure The Best Fit

Bust

With arms at sides, place tape measure under your arms and run it around the fullest part of the bustline and across the shoulder blades.

Waist

Find the natural crease of your waist by bending to one side. Run tape measure around your natural waistline, keeping one finger between the tape and your body for a comfortable fit.

Hips

With feet together, run tape measure around the fullest part of your hips/seat, about 7 to 8 inches below your waistline.

Inseam

For full-length pants, run tape measure along the inside of your leg, from just below the crotch to about 1 inch below the ankle.

As we are an independent and only produce small quantities our sizes vary slightly from style to style.

All garments have been carefully measured, therefore to ensure the very best fit, we suggest taking your own body measurements, whilst wearing light-weight clothing/ underwear and standing up straight, and compare these to our size chart.

Ahh, the Tallulah dress, one of our classics & best sellers, made from a soft crepe fabric with a nice bit of stretch. The functioning buttons and the faux fur leopard details are not just mere embellishments, they infuse the dress with personality, style and grace. With its full circle skirt, this dress allows for effortless movement, ensuring you look as fabulous as you feel. There is also a concealed zip at the back of the dress for smooth fit. To add extra volume to the skirt section as shown, just pop one of our fluffy black petticoats underneath. The petticoat is sold separately.

Fabric- Dress: 92% Polyester, 8% Spandex. Collars: 100% Polyester

Machine wash 30 degrees and separately

    I’m a bit of a robust build and that dress just makes me feel wonderful. The size chart measurements were spot on. Without those I would have ordered the wrong size.

    Just received my dress in the mail. I was on edge about ordering from British Retro as I have ordered from the UK before (I’m from Canada) and have messed up on the sizing. But I bit the bullet and ordered one dress to see what the fit would be like. I very carefully checked the size chart and ordered a size 10. It fits absolutely perfectly! My only complaint is that the sleeves are about an inch too short, but I’m also a tall, long legged and long armed girl, so I’m used to sleeves being a tad on the short side and I can easily make it work. The shoulders fit spot on. I have fairly broad shoulders compared to my waist so often if the waist fits, the shoulders are too narrow, but this dress is spot on. As it is a polyester fabric, the shoulders and back are a little binding when lifting my arms so this will be a Sunday dress only! I’m 5ft 10in and the skirt hits about an inch below my knees, so if any tall girls are looking for dresses that are below the knee, shop here!
    I will definitely order more dresses from here! I finally found a shop that has retro dresses for a good price and they fit me!!! So excited!!!!!!!!
